The TV and streaming provider Canal+ (formerly HD Austria) will refund its activation fee following an agreement with the Chamber of Labor (AK). According to the AK, the chamber had previously reviewed the company’s terms and filed a lawsuit. Canal+ also agreed to stop using several other clauses.
Previously, customers who signed up for a Canal+ subscription had to pay an activation fee of €29.90. According to the AK, this clause was unlawful. Canal+ has now agreed to refund the fee upon request from the customer.
Anyone who paid the activation fee and has not already received a refund will now receive a letter from Canal+ with information on how to reclaim the amount. If no such letter is received, customers can apply for the refund via the Canal+ website. The Chamber of Labor is also providing a sample letter for affected individuals.
