The used-car market has stabilized in the first months of this year, although there have been notable shifts within vehicle segments. Small cars are once again averaging under €15,000, and the average price for electric vehicles has fallen by €1,280 since January, according to Nikolaus Menches, Country Manager for AutoScout24 in Austria.

Across all drivetrains, ages, and categories, the current average price for a used car stands at €29,554. The SUV segment proved price-stable in early 2025, while vans—now increasingly scarce new—saw a significant price jump.

Electric vehicles saw a marked adjustment: “In May, the average listing price was €41,209—€1,280 less than in January,” Menches told APA. Used combustion-engine cars remained comparatively steady. By age, one striking trend is that one-year-old models have gained 4.1 percent in price since the start of 2025, while all other segments have edged downward.
