As the National Council election approaches, the Green Party is ramping up its campaign efforts despite the summer heat and holiday season. On Wednesday, the Greens unveiled their nationwide campaign tours, signaling their determination to regain momentum in the polls. Secretary-General Olga Voglauer emphasized the situation’s urgency, noting that the party currently sits at 8.5 percent in the polls, a significant drop from their 13.9 percent result in the previous election.
The Green Party’s campaign will be led by key figures such as Vice-Chancellor and top candidate Werner Kogler, Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler, Justice Minister Alma Zadic, and Social Minister Johannes Rauch. Over the coming weeks, these leaders will tour all federal states to engage with voters on critical issues.
Each leader will focus on specific themes: Kogler will support his colleagues and emphasize direct dialogue with citizens. Gewessler will embark on a “Climate Tour,” visiting environmental projects and discussing climate and soil protection. Zadic’s “Together Tour” will tackle the fight against hate speech and promote social cohesion. Meanwhile, Rauch, who has decided to actively participate in the campaign, will launch a series titled “Politics You Can Bite Into,” highlighting issues such as animal welfare, food quality, and child nutrition through cooking events across the country.
Voglauer stressed that the Greens have made a substantial impact as a governing party and warned that their achievements are at risk if they do not continue their work. The campaign slogan reinforces this message: “Without the Greens, there is no climate protection.”
