Police officers in Floridsdorf faced an unusual situation Tuesday afternoon. A 46-year-old man began masturbating in front of the district office—while also giving the Nazi salute. When approached by officers, he claimed the act was part of an art project. He has been officially reported to authorities.

Several witnesses observed the scene and alerted the police. Officers from the nearby Hermann-Bahr-Straße station rushed to the scene. The man’s 38-year-old companion, who was filming the act, ran toward the officers and said the man was currently “in the flow.” She further called the performance “the masterpiece of his life.” The pair reportedly said they wanted to draw attention to the problems facing humanity, and that this could only be done through drastic actions.

Charged With Nazi Re-Engagement
The man is now facing charges under Austria’s Prohibition Act for glorifying Nazi activity, as well as for committing public sexual acts. If indicted, the case will go to trial before a jury. The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Counterterrorism (LSE) has been informed of the case. The 38-year-old woman is currently considered a witness, according to police.
