A fraudster withdrew money from two banks in Vienna in early December 2025 using a forged Czech identity card.
The operation took place on a single day. In the first two attempts, he obtained a low five-figure euro amount. On the third attempt, however, a bank employee recognized the fake ID. The man had to flee, but not before leaving clearly identifiable images of his face on the bank’s surveillance cameras.
According to police spokesperson Julia Schick, the investigation has been taken over by the South branch of the Vienna State Criminal Police Office. She requested tips—also anonymously—about the man, who appeared dressed in black clothing with a black baseball cap and a beard, at the phone number 01-31310-57800 ext.
