Around 15% more foreign companies have relocated to Vienna this year compared to 2023, thanks to a new city-run platform launched earlier this year.

The ViennaBusiness website, created to support the initiative, offers information for international companies, start-ups and expats looking to establish themselves in the city. According to the Vienna Business Agency, the platform has attracted nearly one million visitors since its launch in January 2024, reflecting growing interest in Vienna as a key business hub.

Industry Leaders Back the Initiative

The project has received strong backing from leading figures in Vienna’s business community. The newly formed ViennaBusiness Board includes representatives from the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Vienna Tourism Board, Federation of Austrian Industries, research institutions and private companies.

“International business relocations are a key driver of our economy – they not only connect Vienna to the world but also create additional jobs in the city,” said Vienna Finance City Councillor Peter Hanke in a press release. “With ViennaBusiness, we have created a new platform to position Vienna even more strongly as an attractive business location globally. Just as Vienna has succeeded in becoming the capital of music, we now aim to do the same for innovation and business.”

Two Decades of Growth

Vienna has a strong track record when it comes to attracting businesses. Over the past 20 years, more than 3,100 companies have relocated to the city, resulting in investments worth €4.7 billion and the creation of approximately 24,000 jobs.
