Another gas station has been robbed in Vienna. In the early hours of Wednesday, two masked men targeted a gas station on Triester Straße in the Favoriten district, allegedly threatening the attendant at gunpoint and forcing him to open the cash register. According to police spokesperson Markus Dittrich, only one of the suspects entered the shop while the second stood guard outside.
The 45-year-old attendant handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspects fled down Triester Straße heading out of the city. A search was launched immediately, but the perpetrators remain at large. The visibly shaken victim could only describe the robbers as masked and dressed in black.
Multiple Robberies in Just Weeks
This is just the latest in a string of similar gas station robberies in recent weeks. In the early hours of Saturday, another gas station was held up on Linzer Straße in the Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district. Again, two masked men dressed in dark clothing—one armed and the other standing watch—were involved.
A nearly identical robbery occurred in Favoriten on the night of July 25. That time as well, two masked individuals armed with a gun carried out the heist.
Two additional robberies were reported in the early hours of July 19 and 23 in the districts of Favoriten and Simmering, respectively. In those cases, the robberies were carried out by a single masked man dressed in dark clothing and armed with a gun.
The Vienna State Criminal Police Office has now taken over the investigation, with its central division leading the case—suggesting that police are working under the assumption that the crimes are connected, even though this has not been officially confirmed.
