A 36-year-old man from the district of St. Veit an der Glan had stockpiled weapons, drugs, and Nazi material at home. He was exposed after a court-approved house search, the Carinthian police reported on Tuesday. The starting point of the investigation was that the man, already known to the authorities, had spread National Socialist symbols on a social media profile.
During the house search on Tuesday, a considerable amount of incriminating material was found, including a necklace with the inscription “Geheime Staatspolizei” (Secret State Police), a rolled-up Nazi flag, a patch with a swastika, and a photo glorifying Adolf Hitler. Police also found illegal drugs — around eleven grams of heroin, more than three grams of cocaine, and cannabis, each in ready-for-sale packaging — as well as a precision scale and cash in scene-typical denominations. Investigators suspect that the 36-year-old had been dealing drugs. In addition, parts of a cannabis cultivation setup were discovered in his basement compartment.
Furthermore, despite an active official weapons ban, officers found several weapons. These included a loaded shotgun, a small-caliber rifle, a large quantity of ammunition, and three machete-like knives. The 36-year-old was arrested and, after consultation with the Klagenfurt public prosecutor’s office, was taken to the prison in Carinthia’s state capital.
