After a severe storm, fire brigades in Lower Austria were called out to around 140 operations on Monday. The main focus was the district of Horn, with more than 100 reported incidents, according to Klaus Stebal from the regional command on Tuesday. Most of the operations involved pumping out water. Eight people were rescued from four cars that were stuck in floodwaters. In 20 cases, fallen objects had to be cleared. In Sitzenberg (Tulln district), a tree blocked a road.

In Horn, massive rainfall of more than 100 liters per square meter within one hour caused flooding in many private homes and commercial buildings, reported the Brunn an der Wild fire department on its website. In the district, 40 fire brigades were deployed with a total of 585 members and 79 vehicles. No injuries were reported.
