In Vienna’s Donaustadt district, two ATMs were blown up, police spokeswoman Anna Gutt confirmed to APA, verifying an ORF report. The explosions occurred in a bank branch on Zschokkegasse at around 3:15 a.m. Thursday. Several suspects fled on foot; surveillance footage shows two individuals. The amount stolen remains unknown. Investigations point to internationally organized crime.

“The manhunt is in full swing,” Gutt told APA. Witnesses who noticed suspicious persons are urged to contact police. Vienna’s State Criminal Police is taking (even anonymous) tips at 01 31310 33800, a statement said. Austria has seen over 20 ATM bombings this year. Since March 1, the Federal Criminal Police’s “SOKO Bankomat” unit has been working with state agencies on the case.
