With an influx of visitors, Buch Wien 25, Austria’s largest book fair, successfully came to a close today.
Around 72,000 people visited the halls over five days to discover new releases, meet authors, and participate in a total of 516 talks, workshops, and discussion formats. More than 600 contributors from Austria and abroad presented their current programs, including numerous independent publishers and international literary institutions.
Patrick Zöhrer, managing director of Buch Wien, offered a positive assessment, saying: “We are truly delighted that the expansion into a second exhibition hall was so successful and resonated so strongly with both visitors and exhibitors. With a 20 percent increase in exhibition space and 72,000 visitors, this confirms our path to continue developing Buch Wien as a place for debate, exchange, knowledge, and high-quality entertainment. With this momentum, we look forward to new projects in the coming year. There is much to look forward to!”
Benedikt Föger, president of the Austrian Publishers and Booksellers Association, is also optimistic about the future: “For several years now, we have been thrilled to inspire even more people with literature each time. Buch Wien has become by far the most important platform for visibility around books on the domestic market—and is increasingly radiating beyond national borders.”
The next Buch Wien will take place from November 25 to 29, 2026.
