In Austria’s capital Vienna, the number of overnight stays recorded a slight decline after a longer period of growth. As Vienna Tourism reported on Monday, around 1.78 million overnight stays were registered last month. That represents about 2 percent fewer than in July 2024. However, the year-to-date total remains in positive territory.

Between January and July, Vienna recorded 10.64 million overnight stays, a 5 percent increase compared with the same period last year. The top markets in July were led by Germany, followed by Austria, the USA, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, and France.

Revenues also up this year

In terms of revenues, growth was also recorded so far this year: between January and June (July figures are not yet available), businesses generated around €632 million in overnight revenues, up 7 percent from the same period last year.

Hotel occupancy in July averaged about 73 percent, with bed occupancy at 56.2 percent. In total, around 82,800 hotel beds were available in Vienna last month, which according to Vienna Tourism was 2,800 more than were offered in July 2024.

Vienna—set to host the Eurovision Song Contest again next year—has achieved a series of tourism records since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Pre-pandemic levels have already been exceeded several times.
