Viennese Housing Bonus ’23

Viennese Housing Bonus ’23

The Viennese Housing Bonus ’23 is a subsidy provided by the state of Vienna.

The city of Vienna sends an informational letter to every address in Vienna where one or more individuals have registered their primary residence by the cut-off date of June 28, 2023. The letter contains the password required for the online application.

A subsidy of 200 euros can be paid per Viennese address. You will receive the subsidy in the bank account you provided in the application. If you haven’t provided a bank account, the payment will be made by mail. Generally, the payment is processed a few business days after you apply.

Only one application can be submitted per address. If you reside in a supervised facility in Vienna, you can submit a separate application for yourself.

Requirements
Applications for the housing bonus can be made by individuals who have reached the age of 18 and have their primary residence registered at a Viennese address from June 28, 2023.

Your application will be automatically rejected if you registered at your address after the cut-off date.

You can still apply if you were registered at a Viennese address as your primary residence on the cut-off date and have subsequently moved. For a postal payment, you must provide your new address.

The following annual income limits apply:

€40,000 gross for a single individual residing at an address (according to § 1 para. 7 MeldeG).
€100,000 gross for multiple individuals residing at an address (according to § 1 para. 7 MeldeG).
Only the income of individuals who have reached the age of 18 is considered.

The income limit of €40,000 gross also applies if you have your primary residence in a supervised facility in Vienna.

The income limit of €100,000 gross applies, for example, if:

You are a single parent, and your minor child has their primary residence with you.
You live with your parents in a single-family house.
You live in a shared apartment with other individuals aged 18 or older who also have their primary residence there.
To be eligible to apply, your income must be below the income limits.

Your annual gross income is in the 2022 income tax assessment notice. If you do not have an income tax assessment notice for 2022, the assessment notice for 2021 is decisive. If you do not have an income tax assessment notice for 2021 and 2022, you can use the 2022 annual salary statement. The income in 2023 is not relevant for eligibility.

If you did not have taxable income from the seven sources of income under the Income Tax Act and only received one of the following benefits exclusively in 2022, you meet the requirements regarding income limits. The following benefits do not count toward the annual gross income.

Viennese minimum income support
Viennese basic provision
Housing allowance
ALVG and AMSG benefits such as unemployment benefits, emergency assistance, retraining allowance, subsistence support benefits, course cost benefits, and course-related cost benefits
AMFG benefits
Childcare allowance
Maternity allowance
Family equalization benefits such as a family allowance
Various benefits, such as student grants
Compensation and indemnity benefits such as victim pensions
Long-term care benefits
To be eligible to apply, the income of all adult individuals registered as having their primary residence at the respective address must be below the income limits.

Please note that you can only submit one application for each address.
