A group of 20 football hooligans attacked three young men aged 17 to 20 at the Hainbach motorway rest stop in Schörfling am Attersee (Vöcklabruck district) during the night leading into Sunday. The victims, a trio from the Salzburg district of St. Johann im Pongau, sustained injuries in the assault. The fan bus carrying the attackers, which was on its way home from an away match, was later stopped by police.

The injured included a 17-year-old Russian and two 20-year-olds from Iraq and Austria. After the attackers’ bus drove off, the victims called emergency services. The vehicles on the lot were also damaged by the football fans.

Police later intercepted the bus near Mondsee and recorded the personal details of the 20 individuals on board.
