Officers from the regional traffic department caught a man with a large quantity of drugs and €5,600 in cash on Friday evening in Vienna-Landstraße. According to police spokesperson Julia Schick, the officers were conducting a special operation when they noticed the car of a 43-year-old man with its trunk lid open. They asked the man to submit to a check and noticed his red eyes and conspicuous behavior.
In the trunk, they found 70 grams of crystal meth, 75 milliliters of liquid ecstasy, €5,600 in cash, several cell phones, laptops, ATM and credit cards. The 43-year-old Austrian citizen also had no valid driver’s license and refused examination by a police physician. Police strongly suspected that the man, who is already known to them for drug-related offenses, was under the influence of drugs himself. He was arrested. Officers also found numerous technical defects on the vehicle. Further investigations were taken over by the Eastern District branch of the Vienna Criminal Investigation Department.
