Three men have been arrested after police uncovered a large cannabis plantation in a multi-family house in Vienna’s 14th district, following an anonymous tip-off.
The plantation was located in a former pub on the ground floor of the building. A local resident told investigators that, for months, suspicious individuals had been entering and leaving the closed-down pub. There was also a strong smell of cannabis, and the building’s power supply kept failing.
When officers gained access to the premises, they found two men climbing up from the basement through a hole they had prised open in the floor. The men tried to flee but were stopped and detained. In the basement, officers discovered a cannabis cultivation setup with 843 flowering, harvest-ready plants, all of which were confiscated. A third suspect, the tenant of the premises, was later located and arrested.
