The upcoming week in Austria will bring a mix of late winter weather and the first signs of spring. According to Geosphere Austria, a low-pressure system will dominate at the beginning of the week, especially along the northern side of the Alps, bringing heavy clouds and considerable precipitation. Starting midweek, high-pressure conditions will gradually take over, making it sunnier and noticeably warmer.
Monday:
It will remain cloudy and wet along the northern side of the Alps. South of the main Alpine ridge, the sun may appear at times, though isolated showers are possible in the afternoon. The north will experience moderate to strong northerly winds. From East Tyrol to Upper Styria, a strong northern föhn will bring some clearing. Early temperatures will range from 0 to 7°C, with daytime highs between 5 and 14°C.
Tuesday:
The day will start mostly cloudy, with some rain or snow in the north and northwest. Most areas will stay dry, and clouds may break up later to reveal some sunshine. It will remain cool and grey in the north. Winds will be moderate to brisk from the north. Morning lows will be between -1 and +6°C, with daytime highs from 7 to 14°C.
Wednesday:
The low-pressure system will weaken. The west and south will see plenty of sunshine. In the eastern half of Austria, isolated afternoon showers are still possible in mountainous areas. Winds will blow moderately from the north to east. Morning temperatures will range from -1 to +6°C, and highs from 9 to 16°C.
Thursday:
Widespread sunshine is expected. Any remaining clouds will clear during the day, though harmless cumulus clouds may form in the south. Northeastern Austria will experience moderate to brisk northeast winds; elsewhere, winds will be light. Morning lows will be between -2 and +5°C, and highs will rise to 12 to 21°C.
Friday:
Spring will take over completely. High pressure will bring sunshine across the country with only a few passing clouds. Winds will be light, morning temperatures between -1 and +7°C, and highs between 15 and 22°C.
