A 38-year-old driver was shot by his passenger while driving through Linz on Tuesday morning, following an argument between the two men.
The suspect, described as slim, bald and aged between 50 and 60, fled the scene and remains at large. Police have launched a search but, as of Tuesday afternoon, had found no trace of him. Witnesses reported that he was wearing a grey vest and carrying a black pistol at the time of the attack.
The incident occurred in a car, contrary to earlier reports suggesting it took place on a bus. The passenger allegedly pulled out a gun during the argument and shot the driver. After stopping the vehicle, the injured man – identified as a Chechen national – was aided by passers-by before being taken to hospital.
Police have confirmed that the victim is not in critical condition. Investigators suspect both men are connected to the local drug scene. The search for the gunman continues.
