A tumble dryer has caused a fire at a hotel in Burgenland, forcing all 130 guests, including a small baby, to be relocated to another hotel.

The blaze broke out in the laundry room of the hotel in Stegersbach, located in the Güssing district, on Wednesday evening. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to fire brigade commander Klaus Sabara, the guests were already outside the hotel when the Stegersbach fire brigade arrived on the scene. The hotel’s fire alarm system activated promptly, helping to prevent further damage, the district fire brigade command stated.

In total, 80 firefighters were deployed to tackle the blaze, managing to bring it under control quickly. Sabara confirmed that the guest rooms were not affected by the fire. In addition to crews from Stegersbach, Ollersdorf, and Bocksdorf fire brigades, emergency services including the Red Cross, police, and Burgenland Energie staff were also present at the scene.
