In Lower Austria, the Ötscherlifte in Lackenhof and the Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen will begin their winter season on Saturday with partial operations. Other ski resorts, such as the Annaberger Lifte and the Wexl Arena in St. Corona am Wechsel, will expand their ski offerings and will be open daily starting Saturday, as announced by ecoplus Alpin GmbH on Friday. The Hochkar Bergbahnen and Semmering Hirschenkogel have been operating daily since last weekend.

“Especially with the upcoming Christmas holidays, it is very exciting that several other ski resorts, like the Gemeindealpe Mitterbach and Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen, can start operations on Saturday,” said Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP), the Tourism Minister of Lower Austria. “The Jauerling ski lift will begin operations on Friday afternoon, and from then on, Semmering Hirschenkogel will also offer night skiing.”

In Mönichkirchen, a newly constructed children’s ski area with conveyor belts will be introduced. The area, covering around 2,000 square meters, is located at the base station of the Sonnenbahn. The new facility became necessary because the previously privately operated children’s ski area at the former base station was no longer suitable for snowmaking.
