Austria’s new digital vignette for motorists for 2025 has been made available for purchase from Tuesday, motorway company Asfinag has announced.
The vignette, which will be valid from 1 December, can be bought via the Asfinag toll shop and the Asfinag app for the upcoming year. Asfinag is responsible for maintaining Austria’s autobahns and collecting tolls.
In addition, the digital vignette will be available at toll booths, motorist clubs and associations ÖAMTC, ARBÖ, ADAC, as well as selected petrol stations and newsagents.
Since 1997, all drivers have been required to have a valid vignette to use Austria’s motorways (Autobahnen) and expressways (Schnellstraßen). Traditionally, these were displayed on the vehicle’s windshield, but the digital vignette, which was introduced in 2018, is now linked to the vehicle’s registration plate. A single vignette can be used for up to three vehicles.
The annual car vignette for 2025 will cost €103.80, while the motorcycle vignette will be priced at €41.50. The one-day vignette for cars will be available for €9.30, and for motorcycles, €3.70. The ten-day vignette will cost €12.40 for cars and €4.90 for motorcycles.
