The 24-hour warning strike at 13 German airports on Monday will cause disruptions or complete cancellations of all flights to and from Austria. 45 flights between Vienna and German airports have been canceled, as announced by Vienna Airport on Sunday. Many other flights between German airports and Graz, Salzburg, Linz, Innsbruck, and Klagenfurt are also affected.

From Vienna alone, six flights usually go to Munich, five to Stuttgart, eleven to Frankfurt, seven each to Düsseldorf and Hamburg, and two each to Hannover and Leipzig on strike-free Mondays. Flights between Vienna and Berlin, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Bremen, and Hannover will not operate on March 10 due to the strike. Vienna Airport recommends that travelers check the websites of their booked airlines or their travel agents for updates.

At Salzburg Airport, all eight departures and seven arrivals to and from Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Düsseldorf have been canceled for Monday, according to ORF Salzburg. Other regional airports are also affected. In Styria, “significant disruptions” in air traffic to/from Graz are expected. Six flights between Linz and Frankfurt have already been canceled, and flights from Innsbruck and Klagenfurt to Germany are also impacted.

The strike will affect flights at airports in Munich, Frankfurt, Cologne, Hamburg, and Berlin.

“According to current information, all flights to and from Germany on this day will be affected by disruptions or cancellations,” Austrian Airlines (AUA) confirmed in response to an APA inquiry. AUA passengers who booked flights to or from Germany and provided a mobile number or email address during booking will be directly informed about flight adjustments and rebookings.

On Monday (March 10), from 00:00 to 23:59, public service and ground handling staff at the following German airports will participate in the warning strike: Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Hannover, Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin-Brandenburg, and Leipzig-Halle. Additionally, the German trade union Verdi has called for airport security personnel to join the strike due to another ongoing labor dispute. This strike also affects the airports in Weeze near Düsseldorf and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden.

Hamburg Airport was additionally paralyzed on Sunday. The union had announced the start of the strike only 30 minutes before to maximize its impact.
