Two teenagers riding together on an e-scooter were seriously injured in an accident in Vienna late Friday evening. As reported by the Vienna rescue service on Saturday, the 15-year-old driver and his 14-year-old passenger crashed into a car at the intersection of Johannesgasse and Schubertring. The 15-year-old sustained serious injuries, including head injuries and bone fractures.
The boy had to be provided with emergency medical care by the professional rescue team, intubated, and stabilized in a vacuum mattress. He was then taken to the trauma room of a clinic for further treatment. The 14-year-old injured his shoulder in the fall and also had to be taken to the hospital after receiving emergency medical care. Several rescue teams were deployed.
The boys apparently ran a red light on the rented e-scooter, according to the police. Additionally, riding together in such a vehicle is not permitted.
