TUI Austria is predicting a robust summer season in 2025, announcing a near 18% increase in flight capacities compared to last year. The company will offer around 300 departures per week to popular holiday destinations.
Greece remains the most popular destination, accounting for more than a third of flights, followed by Turkey with 80 flights per week and Spain with around 50.
Holidaymakers are also expected to spend more in 2025, with average expenditure per trip rising by 5%. The increase is not only due to inflation but also reflects the growing trend of booking additional services and upgrades. Luxury travel, in particular, is seeing a notable surge in demand.
Speaking at the traditional press conference ahead of the Holiday Fair in Vienna – the largest event of its kind in Austria – TUI Austria CEO Gottfried Math emphasised the resilience of the tourism sector, despite the challenges posed by a slowing global economy. “Tourism is internationally resistant to the economic downturn,” Math said. “Experiences appear more important to people than ever before.”
TUI Austria’s expansion is further supported by its own hotel brands, with the company aiming to grow its global portfolio to 600 properties in the medium term, up from around 400 at present. Seventy new projects have already been signed, with more expected in the spring.
Math expressed confidence about the upcoming season, citing significant increases in bookings. “We are in the peak booking period for summer 2025 and are very optimistic about the season ahead,” he added.
