Two Austrian football teams, Sturm Graz and Red Bull Salzburg, have qualified for the men’s Champions League for the first time.

This follows RB Salzburg’s 1-1 draw with Dynamo Kyiv in the play-off on Tuesday. The result was sufficient for Salzburg to progress with an aggregate score of 3-1.

Sturm Graz earned direct entry after clinching the Austrian Bundesliga title for the first time in 11 years in May, breaking Salzburg’s long-standing dominance.

Salzburg has qualified for the Champions League for the sixth time in a row.

The Champions League draw is scheduled for Thursday. The competition will now follow a revised format, replacing the traditional group stages. The new format will see 36 teams, each playing eight matches against different opponents. Teams will be placed into four pots based on their UEFA coefficients.
