A school in Vienna’s 14th district, Penzing, has been closed on Monday following a bomb threat received over the weekend.

Police searched the AHS-Wienwest overnight but found no suspicious items, and the threat is believed to be a hoax. Reports suggest the threat was sent via email.

Despite no evidence of danger being found, authorities are continuing to monitor the area during the day as a precaution. Parents were reportedly informed of the closure by email on Monday morning. Police have filed charges against an unidentified individual, with current evidence indicating the threat was fake.

The closure comes after a wave of bomb threats targeting railway stations and schools in September and October, for which a 20-year-old Swiss national was identified as the perpetrator.
