In the training year from October 2023 to September 2024, 5,230 individuals, of which around 30 percent were women, successfully completed a master or qualification exam. This marks an 18 percent increase compared to the 4,430 successful exams in the previous year, making it the second-highest number in the last decade, as reported by Economic Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP) on Thursday. He congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
He also reminded that as of July 1, 2023, the exam fees were abolished and views the rise in the number of exams passed as a success of this measure. For instance, the number of applicants in the field of communications electronics has more than tripled. There were also significant increases in the fields of refrigeration and air conditioning technology, as well as heating technology. Another helpful measure was the possibility to have the title “Master” or “Mistress” officially recorded on public certificates.
