As part of a targeted operation, the Financial Police under the Office for Combating Fraud inspected 32 alpine hut businesses in Tyrol and Vorarlberg in September. According to the Ministry of Finance, approximately €100,000 in fines are expected to be imposed for 41 identified violations. Nearly one in five of the 128 employees checked was not properly registered.

The inspections focused on the proper registration of employees, compliance with tax obligations, and adherence to labor law regulations. Fourteen of the 32 businesses were unable to provide work records, and three alpine huts lacked cash registers. In addition, charges were filed under the Aliens Employment Act and for unauthorized business activities.
