Half of all Austrians will holiday in Austria this year, according to research by the Austrian Hotel Association (ÖHV).
The survey, conducted by the ÖHV in collaboration with pollster MindTake, involved 1,000 Austrians and showed that 52% of respondents plan to take a domestic holiday. Of these, three-quarters will do so during the summer months.
“Austria is and remains a holiday magnet,” explained ÖHV President Walter Veit. “The price-performance ratio is excellent, and the range of holidays on offer leaves nothing to be desired.”
Styria tops the list of popular destinations, attracting just under 29% of domestic holidaymakers. It’s followed by Carinthia with 26.5%, and Salzburg with 18.5%. Vienna is the choice for 12.8% of those vacationing within Austria.
Vienna Tourism has recorded nearly seven million overnight stays so far this year, with approximately 1.3 million of these from Austrian guests, marking a 12% increase from last year.
