After the discovery of a body in a suitcase on Quellenstraße in Vienna-Favoriten on Friday afternoon, no new investigation results were available by Saturday. The Vienna State Criminal Police are investigating the case as a violent crime, with foul play not being ruled out. Results from a forensic report and a DNA analysis are still pending.

The injuries on the unidentified male body suggest foul play. A preliminary forensic report is currently being prepared, which is expected to provide insights into the exact cause of death. The ongoing DNA analysis may also provide specific information regarding the identity of the body. Investigations are in full swing.

Suitcase Found Near Trash Container

A man had called the police emergency line on Friday around 3:00 PM to report that he had found a lifeless body in a suitcase next to a trash container. The area between Hofherrgasse and Randhartigergasse was immediately cordoned off to prevent pedestrians, onlookers, and the media from entering.

The body was likely discovered in front of a residential building. Police erected a large tent to protect the area. Whether the deceased had been dismembered, as reported by some media, had not been confirmed by Saturday. The Vienna Police Directorate’s official statement continued to refer to the discovery as a “male body.”

Police spokesperson David Pawlik also stated in response to an APA inquiry that no other information had been provided.
