A fatal incident occurred during the Electric Love Festival at the Salzburgring (Flachgau) on Saturday night. A 22-year-old German festivalgoer lost consciousness after reportedly behaving aggressively and requiring security intervention, according to a police statement. Despite immediate first aid and the arrival of an emergency doctor, the man died at the scene.
The Salzburg State Criminal Police Office has launched an investigation into the circumstances and cause of death. It remains unclear whether the man’s loss of consciousness and subsequent death were directly connected to the actions of the security staff. A police spokesperson said that further interviews need to be conducted. The public prosecutor’s office has ordered an autopsy to clarify the exact cause of death. The Red Cross deployed crisis intervention staff to support those affected.
720 People Received Medical Treatment During the Festival
Across the three-day event, the Red Cross provided medical care to about 720 individuals. Most cases involved heat-related circulation issues or minor injuries such as abrasions and sprains, the organization said on Sunday. The number of cases was considered typical for a festival of this size.
Each day, around 180 Red Cross personnel were on duty, including approximately 150 emergency and paramedic responders and up to three emergency doctors. The team was supported by special units and a mobile command center on-site.
