The Vienna Summer School is set to begin on Monday, August 19, providing a great opportunity for students to brush up on their knowledge during the last two weeks of the school holidays.

A total of 10,027 pupils will be participating across 96 locations throughout Vienna.

The initiative aims to reinforce subject knowledge and prepare students for the upcoming academic year. “The summer school provides pupils with the support they need to begin the school year well-prepared,” stated Arno Langmeier, the interim Director of Education for Vienna, in a press release.

The benefits of the summer school extend beyond the pupils themselves. Alongside seasoned educators, student teachers are also involved, gaining valuable experience as part of their compulsory internships. A total of 680 teachers, supported by 310 student teachers, are engaged in this endeavour.

The pupils receive focused assistance in 835 small groups, each comprising between six and 15 participants.

The summer school is available in primary schools, focusing on German, mathematics and general studies, while in secondary schools, the subjects covered are German, mathematics, and English.

There are more than 242,000 pupils in Vienna across all year groups.
