
After the evacuation of Vienna’s main train station by the Vienna police due to a received threat, the building was reopened around 6:00 PM. The authorities confirmed that there was no longer any danger. Train services were resumed as well.
The evacuation took place at around 5:00 PM due to an “acute threat situation.” During the large-scale police operation, bomb searches were conducted by dogs. The police did not provide any information regarding the sender of the threatening email.
During the operation, train services were halted, and Vienna’s public transportation (Wiener Linien) did not stop at the affected station. The ÖBB set up a replacement bus service between Vienna-Liesing and Siebenhirten (U6 station). S-Bahn trains continued to operate but did not stop at Vienna’s main train station.
