An ATM in Vienna has been blown up once again by unknown perpetrators, this time in the 22nd district, Donaustadt.

The explosion took place early on Thursday morning at a post office on Wagramer Straße, situated in a ground-floor extension of a multi-apartment building. The blast caused significant damage, completely destroying the entrance area of the branch.

Police were alerted at around 4:15 AM, and forensic investigators were quickly dispatched to the scene. A large number of emergency services responded, and a police helicopter was deployed as part of the ongoing manhunt for the culprits, confirmed police spokesperson Anna Gutt.

Ongoing Wave of ATM Explosions

This latest incident follows a troubling series of ATM explosions.

On 12 February, three men attempted to blow up an ATM at Wienerberg in the 10th district, Favoriten. Although the explosives failed to detonate, the suspects managed to flee on a white motorcycle.

Just a week earlier, on 8 February, an ATM was successfully detonated in the 11th district, Simmering, with initial reports suggesting the involvement of a Dutch group linked to several similar incidents in Austria this year.

ATM explosions have also been reported in other districts of Vienna and in Lower Austria.
