Two ATMs were blown up early on Monday morning at a shopping centre in Wels, Upper Austria, as a wave of attacks on cash machines continues.
The perpetrators remain at large, and a large-scale manhunt has been launched, police have said.
The explosion occurred around 2:30am at the Max Centre, where multiple suspects are reported to have detonated two ATMs. Initial reports suggest the culprits may have made off with cash, though this has not been fully confirmed.
In response to the incident, heavily armed officers were deployed, and police have begun reviewing security footage as part of their investigation.
Police say the incident is unrelated to a similar attempted ATM explosion on Friday night at a shopping centre in Pasching, near Linz.
Last week, an ATM was blown up at a post office in Vienna, following a series of attacks in the city and in Lower Austria.
