A new wave of bomb threats hit three Austrian federal states on Monday and Tuesday, following a series of similar alerts across the country last week, officials have confirmed.

Emergency responses were triggered in Salzburg, where one of Austria’s largest shopping centres was evacuated, as well as in Linz and Graz.

Last week, several Austrian railway stations were targeted by bomb threats. The State Offices for the Protection of the Constitution and Counterterrorism (LSE) are now investigating.

On Monday evening, Salzburg’s Europark shopping centre was evacuated after a serious threat was received shortly before closing time. Shoppers and staff were told to leave the building, while police cordoned off the area and searched both the centre and its underground car park. No suspicious objects were found.

On Tuesday morning, a threat led to the closure of Keplerstraße in Graz’s Lend district. The Styria Police Directorate received a message warning of explosives in the area. Extensive cordons and evacuation measures were put in place, including the evacuation of a nearby school. Numerous police patrols and bomb disposal experts were deployed.

In Linz, a school was also affected. A bomb threat targeting the Ramsauer Gymnasium was emailed to the police at 10:00 am, according to media reports. All necessary precautions were taken, with emergency services, including a helicopter and special forces, called to the scene. Students, staff, and teachers were reported safe by late morning. The school was still being searched, but there were no traffic disruptions, and the operation remained ongoing.
