US superstar Taylor Swift could generate up to €100 million for Vienna with her sold-out concerts in August, according to predictions by the Vienna Business Agency.
Swift will perform at the Ernst Happel Stadium on August 8, 9 and 10 as part of her “Eras Tour.” The concerts have been sold out for over a year.
A spokesperson for the Vienna Business Agency explained that this is a preliminary estimate based on available US data and the assumption that large-scale concerts like this impact areas such as tourism, transport and hospitality.
The hotel industry is already reaping the fruits of Swift’s visit, as confirmed by Vienna Tourism, with occupancy rates during the concert days already high. However, there is still available accommodation for fans, the agency said.
Swift’s 152-date Eras Tour has already become the highest-grossing concert series of all time. Last year’s US leg of the tour was the first in history to surpass $1 billion (€920 million). It is now estimated that the international leg could push that total to as much as $4 billion (€3.7 billion).
